I’m late to the party, there have been several blog posts on this through the intertubes, but I have to add my w00t!

For those wanting to play with this, It’s only available on the development version, meaning you’ll need to get the source from CVS/SVN/Git repos, (some distros have packages for emacs23 so look around for your repo) and compile, if you need help with this, give me a holler or just checkout emacswiki.

To start the daemon just do:

emacs –daemon

It will detach itself, so all is good. Then on your terminal:

emacsclient -t (if you want to run it inside the terminal)

or

emacsclient -c (To create a frame for Emacs gui)

I have it starting at boot from a init script I made, and it’s working beautifully!

Some of you might be wondering why have an editor run as a daemon, well in the specific case of emacs, it’s really a convenience of having just one instance running, and really now, you don’t need more than one, at least I don’t. There might be other reasons, but to be honest I don’t care, I just love it, and want to say thanks to all the emacs-devel team.

I’ve been on vacation in New York for the last week and a half, been site seeing, and doing the tourist stuff.

Last weekend met with tamgo, we met at Toys ‘r us and he bought himself a PS3 (I had nothing to do with that decision, though he says I do.) Bought a few DS games, and basically have spent a small fortune on games for my family (the wife, and kids are into gaming), Also bought a Wii for my son he’s a Nintendo fan boy, had to get a refurbished unit though, with full and extended warranty, because it’s difficult to find that damn system.

Today I have been confined to be inside the house due to very bad weather.

I also upgraded my desktop machine, to a new Dell XPS Intel Quad Core machine, with a 24″ HD display, and a wonderful Raid 5 system.

I have decided to not waste money on laptops, they break to easily and too much for my pocket, so this machine will keep me happy for a while. I have to admit, that if it weren’t for the fact that the new LED 15″ Mac book pro, were not in stock, I would have walked out with one last Friday, from the Fifth Av. Apple Store.

I’ll be going home next week, though New York is an amazing city, I can’t wait to get home.

Faith, it’s not dependent, or limited to religion.

It is a complete and free entity, capable of being exercised with out the need of religion, or facts.

When we talk about faith,‭ ‬be it conscious or not,‭ the word‬:‭ “‬religion‭” creeps in;‬ ‭religion, is a human endeavour, and to some, is the basis of faith.

I believe, that faith is a vital part of human nature, it is tightly coupled with our being, however, it is not our creation, it’s a quality that we all posses.

Faith, is one of the cornerstones of humanity, it is an essential part of free will; without faith the human life, is void of hope and meaning.

There is often confusion between faith and hope; to some the difference are very clear and distinct, to others it’s just a blur. I think faith and hope, are related; related because hope is a emotional state that feeds on faith.

Religion, with out faith, is myth. History, has shown us, how people have migrated from one belief system to another. How complete religious foundations have disappear, and in all cases, people stopped believing in one thing, to believe in the other.

Faith, is “Believing”; believing in someone –yourself perhaps–; in something –a object that brings you luck. It matters little if you believe in: God, science, fairy’s or what not. What matters, is that, one way or the other you “believe”.
