Well life has been quite hectic in this new year, my work load has increased disproportionately, not complaining but it has impacted my free time quite negatively. In this year all sorts of problems from the technical to the human have ensued. Started with my back hurting like hell for no apparent reason, still to this day don’t know what was the issue, doctors didn’t find anything wrong, I changed my eating, sleeping, and work habits, that has yielded good results and I’ve been pain free for the last couple of weeks. In the midst of my pain, my daughter burned herself accidentally, 25% of her body to be exact, and well we spent 16 days in the hospital, she’s better now, but her left thigh had the worst of the burn, and it’s still not 100% healed, but safe enough for her to be home, and go to school.

On the lesser side of things my hard drive died, and it was bad, my laptop died too, it was old. I recovered some of the data that wasn’t on backup but not all. Have put in place more aggressive backup policies, but nothing is failure proof. But with the bad comes the good, and things have been getting better, several projects my company is working on, have picked up, and there is a bright future ahead of us, so that’s really good.

I have many unfinished posts in my draft folder, I will start churning those out in the days to come. I have a Emacs related surprise plan for some of the readers of this blog, hopefully it will leave to my expectations.

I’ve been on vacation in New York for the last week and a half, been site seeing, and doing the tourist stuff.

Last weekend met with tamgo, we met at Toys ‘r us and he bought himself a PS3 (I had nothing to do with that decision, though he says I do.) Bought a few DS games, and basically have spent a small fortune on games for my family (the wife, and kids are into gaming), Also bought a Wii for my son he’s a Nintendo fan boy, had to get a refurbished unit though, with full and extended warranty, because it’s difficult to find that damn system.

Today I have been confined to be inside the house due to very bad weather.

I also upgraded my desktop machine, to a new Dell XPS Intel Quad Core machine, with a 24″ HD display, and a wonderful Raid 5 system.

I have decided to not waste money on laptops, they break to easily and too much for my pocket, so this machine will keep me happy for a while. I have to admit, that if it weren’t for the fact that the new LED 15″ Mac book pro, were not in stock, I would have walked out with one last Friday, from the Fifth Av. Apple Store.

I’ll be going home next week, though New York is an amazing city, I can’t wait to get home.
