Last Exile is an anime series, or as some call it “The Anime” series. I learned about Last Exile through the work of artist Range Murata (No I don’t know him, I know his work) I found some wallpapers with his work on several sites, It was an immediate attraction, the guy is a genious drawing, he’s done the characters for two anime series:
- Blue Submarine No. 9 (Which is on my to buy list)
- Last Exile (which I own).
I started doing research on both and decided to get Last Exile first, it’s worth every single cent spent and then some, it’s an amazing work of art, and if you are anime buff and don’t know about Last Exile, do yourself a favor and go get it, while you still can.

I watched the first DVD from the series recently. That is just sheer genius.
The minimal contrast between 2D sprites with 3D backgrounds. The rich and complex emotion that are almost palpable on the characters faces. The enticing and addictive story line.
This is the best anime series that I’ve seen in a while. And I’m an anime buff. Range rules.
Cool! I’ll look it up. I’ve always been looking for an anime series that I may like, as I generally apreciate it and like the way it’s commonly presented. HOwever, most of the series I find to be overly complicated for it’s own good, and just too geeky for me. But this sounds cool. I’ll soon be downloading… I mean, buying, yes, buying the DVDs.
